The BOC Smoothcut plasma cutting machine range has expanded to include their powerful handheld plasma cutting machine, the BOC Smoothcut 160.
According to Nic Bothma, Technical Manager, Industrial Products, BOC, the new BOC Smoothcut 160 has outstanding cutting capacity. It is suitable for anyone who requires a quality cut in mild steel including foundry work, as a gouging option, or for heavy manufacturing and fabrication or earthmoving equipment repair. The machine is capable of easily slicing through 50mm thick mild steel and 35mm aluminium. Severance cuts of up to 60mm are also within its capabilities.
It is an inverter based machine that has a power efficiency of 85% and a rated duty cycle of 60%. The BOC Smoothcut relies on a high frequency transfer arc start. This system markedly reduces any tip wear that may occur through accidental contact with the cutting surface. The dedicated BOC Smoothcut Super Torch matches the Smoothcut 160 with a quick connect/disconnect back end that ensures user safety and ease of operation.
