Leading automotive parts supplier, ZF Friedrichshafen AG (ZF) has become the 2000th member of the world-leading fieldbus organisation, the EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG).
Founded in 2003, the EtherCAT Technology Group (ETG) is an organisation in which key user companies from various industries and leading automation suppliers join forces to support, promote and advance the EtherCAT technology.
The ETG reached a significant milestone in 2012 when ZF Friedrichshafen AG officially became part of the organisation as the 2000th member. Welcoming ZF to the organisation, Martin Rostan, Executive Director of the EtherCAT Technology Group said that the 2,000-member mark was clear evidence of the widespread acceptance of EtherCAT during the past 10 years.
During his visit to ZF’s company headquarters in Friedrichshafen, Martin Rostan presented an award and certificate to Rüdiger Ammann and Dr Florian Kusche. Rüdiger Ammann, Head of FC Test Bench Management at ZF Group, explained that ZF selected EtherCAT due to its high flexibility and performance. EtherCAT has become an important part of ZF’s automation system for control and data acquisition on their test benches.
Since the addition of ZF to the ETG ranks, the organisation’s membership has increased to over 2,200 companies in 56 countries.
