The embedded PC range from Beckhoff Automation has been extended with new high performance devices. The range now enables even more precise adaptation of the control system to the task in hand.
The CX1030 is equipped with a 1.8 GHz Intel Pentium M. The combination of CX1030, EtherCAT and TwinCAT enables fast control processes in the sub-millisecond range (eXtreme fast control technology).
The existing devices are complemented by the new CX9010, CX1010 and CX1030 models that offer higher-performance CPUs with maximum hardware and software compatibility with the earlier models.
The CX1030 extends the CX series with a high performance 1.8 GHz Intel Pentium M CPU. The CPU is cooled via the passive cooling module and an easily exchangeable fan cartridge located on the underside of the housing.
In addition to the CPU and the chipset, the CX1030 module also contains the RAM, which is available in different sizes: 256 MB DDR RAM as standard, expandable to 512 MB or 1 GB. The controller boots from the compact flash.
The basic configuration of the CX1030 includes a 64 MB compact flash card and two Ethernet RJ 45 interfaces. These are connected to an internal switch and offer a simple option for creating a line topology without the need for additional Ethernet switches. All other CX family components can be connected via the PC/104 interface that is available on both sides.
The operating system can be Windows CE or Windows XP embedded. The TwinCAT automation software transforms a CX1030 system into a powerful PLC and motion control systems that can be used with or without visualisation.
The CX1030 can also be used for interpolating axis movements with TwinCAT NC interpolation.
Further system interfaces or fieldbus connections can be added to the basic CPU module. All CX1500 fieldbus modules can be used in combination with the CX1030.
The CX1100-001x power supply units offers a direct interface between the CX1030 and the Beckhoff I/O system in protection class IP 20 and IP 67. The I/O interfaces are available for the Bus terminals, EtherCAT terminals and the Fieldbus box modules.
