Beckhoff Automation  have presented their automation and industry solutions for the food and drink industry at Anuga FoodTec in Cologne, Germany. With PC control from Beckhoff Automation, the entire production process can be automated with a uniform control platform in the drinks industry from injection moulding machines, e.g. for the manufacture of PET bottles, to filling plants, as well as in the food industry from the production of packaging foils to complete packaging lines.

At Anuga FoodTec, Beckhoff Automation showcased their range of high-performance IPCs, electronic I/O terminals, the EtherCAT high-speed fieldbus, the TwinCAT automation system and Servo Drive technology. The universally applicable PC-based control technology from Beckhoff can also play to their strength in the food and drinks industry, PLC, Motion Control as well as software functions, such as electronic cam plates, are integrated on a standardised PC platform. In combination with EtherCAT, PC-based control enables higher product quality and shorter cycle times than conventional control technology.

In combination with TwinCAT motion control solutions, the drive technology from Beckhoff Automation represents a complete, modern drive system. The AX5000 Servo drives offer top performance and dynamics. In the low performance range, motion bus terminals for DC or stepper motors offer an inexpensive alternative to servo technology.

XFC with eXtreme Fast Control Technology makes high-speed machine controllers with high reaction rate possible. This leads to better control quality as well as faster machine processes and therefore to higher production. Special auxiliary controllers and expensive measurement technology cards are replaced with cost-optimised standard components. In this way, the size of the control cabinet and the costs for control equipment are reduced in the packaging, plastics and drinks industries.
