BASF has added a new grade to its Styrolux range of styrene/butadiene/styrene (SBS) polymers.
The new product, Styrolux 3G 33, is an injection-moulding grade that is transparent yet offers good impact strength and stiffness. BASF's Styrolux range of SBS block copolymers belongs to the company’s family of specialty styrenic plastics.
Styrolux 3G 33 shows three improvements over conventional SBS grades: higher transparency, even on thick-walled mouldings; better impact strength and stiffness thanks to a modified molecular morphology; guaranteed good melt flow, enabling faster cycling times and greater output.
Styrolux 3G 33 is suitable for medical applications, displays, cosmetics packaging as well as toys and household articles. The plastic has been designed to compete with other clear plastics such as PET, PVC and acrylic.
BASF will continue to offer the Styrolux injection-molding grades 656 C und 684D alongside Styrolux 3G 33.
