Network video specialist, Axis Communications has been selected to receive the prestigious 2011 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Aerospace and Defence Award for Airport Video Surveillance Systems Provider of the Year.

The Frost & Sullivan Award recognises outstanding performances in the Airlines, Airports, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), Aviation Training, Defence, General Aviation and Homeland Security segments of the Aerospace and Defence industry.

Being held for the fourth consecutive year, the Awards are presented to companies identified by Frost & Sullivan as outstanding industry achievers in regional as well as global markets.

Expressing his satisfaction, Lee Oh Tee, Regional Director, South Asia Pacific Region, Axis Communications comments that Axis is committed to delivering leading technology and innovative best practices in aviation surveillance as the industry evolves over time.

The award also recognises Axis’ overall market leadership position for IP video surveillance solutions.

Axis network video solutions are used at Kingsford-Smith Airport in Sydney to meet its stringent surveillance needs involving cost-effective monitoring at strategic places from entrances and exits, security and passport controls and check-in areas to commercial and parking areas, airport perimeters, cargo areas, runways and taxiways.

Given that security is of paramount importance to the aviation industry, it is important for security equipment including cameras to be reliable in performance as any malfunction can have grave consequences.

Axis also serves Carcassonne Airport in France, Korea’s Gimpo International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport with their IP video solutions.
