Analog Devices has released 32 × 32 analogue crosspoint switches. The AD8117 and AD8118 achieve bandwidth of more than 500 MHz, making them the industry’s first single-chip 32 × 32 analogue crosspoint switches to achieve the high speeds required to route quantum extended graphics array (QXGA) video signals without degrading image quality.
The switches consume 2.5 mW per point, this low power consumption cuts system cost by reducing power supply requirements, the devices operate with a single +5V supply or dual ±2.5V supplies, eliminating the need for external heat sinks.
In addition, the switches consume 200 mA of standby current and 500 mA of quiescent current. The AD8117 and AD8118 are fully specified over the industrial temperature range of –40°C to +85°C. Both switches are available in 304-ball thermally-enhanced BGA (ball grid array) packages
