Hella Australia have embraced the Cognex / DVT vision technology at their Mentone plant to increase its level of quality in part production and assembly. Such quality checks are essential for ensuring that the customer receives quality parts and reducing the reject rates. Automation Systems & Controls are distributors of Cognex / DVT vision technology products.
Linear barcode reading and part recognition are some of the quality check requirements. Hella are currently utilising the Cognex DVT 535 camera for linear bar code reading and the Cognex DVT 515 camera for part recognition. Both the cameras communicate via Modbus and enables easy interfacing to the PLC’s.
Ari Lagos, Hella’s Assembly Engineer, discusses the seamless integration of the installed vision systems into Hella’s manufacturing processes. Automation Systems & Controls run free vision training courses every two months which Hella’s engineers have attended to develop their knowledge and skills with vision.
The training is fully hands on and is not only software based but also covers lighting techniques and vision fundamentals. The training is professionally hosted and is a must for anyone, who is thinking of installing a vision system. This training has given Hella the power and ability to integrate their in house projects with great success.
