AutoCAD 2010 from Autodesk offer diversified 3D and 2D modelling solutions

Supplier News

AutoCAD 2010 and the AutoCAD platform of discipline-specific software applications available from Autodesk offer improved 2D and 3D design and documentation capabilities. The AutoCAD 2010 enables designers to easily create innovative designs with the addition of new free-form design tools that enable users to push and pull faces, edges and vertices, model complex shapes, and add smooth surfaces.

New PDF import and underlay and enhanced publishing features simplify two-way communication with the extended design team, and new parametric drawing tools permit the definition of persistent relationships between objects, accelerating crucial design revision workflows. AutoCAD 2010 now also supports 3D printing, facilitating the production of physical 3D models and physical prototypes by connecting to on-demand 3D printing services or personal 3D printers. The release of AutoCAD LT 2010 software for 2D drafting and detailing incorporates PDF input and output enhancements and additional 2D drafting commands for viewing and editing drawings.

As the foundation for digital prototyping, Autodesk Inventor software helps to produce an accurate 3D model that validates the form, fit and function of a design before it is built. The Autodesk Inventor 2010 product line introduces new usability and productivity enhancements for 2D product documentation, 3D product design, extended simulation capabilities, a strong focus on plastic part creation, and new data management and exchange capabilities.

Other updates to the digital prototyping products for manufacturers include a streamlined design environment in AutoCAD Mechanical 2010, a circuit builder tool to facilitate ‘green’ engineering decisions using AutoCAD Electrical 2010 and the availability of a Mac version of the Autodesk alias family of products for industrial design.

Autodesk have also released updated versions of Autodesk Moldflow 2010 with new sustainability features, Autodesk Showcase 2010, now with integrated raytracing and Autodesk Vault 2010 software, featuring extensive new document management capabilities that enable users to easily manage design revisions.

Autodesk’s new product portfolio for the architecture, engineering, construction, transportation, environmental, utilities and telecommunications industries helps project teams across the AEC industries make sustainable design decisions with improved capabilities for energy analysis. The 2010 Autodesk Revit platform for BIM, which includes Autodesk Revit Architecture 2010 software, Autodesk Revit Structure 2010 software and Autodesk Revit MEP 2010 software, features increased conceptual design functionality, new building performance analysis tools and an aligned user interface.

By investing in the Revit platform for BIM, AEC firms can accurately design, visualise and simulate project performance, appearance and cost, to create more resource-efficient buildings and infrastructure. AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 software, the BIM application for civil engineers, includes new capabilities for automated intersection design and integrated storm sewer analysis, and Autodesk Navisworks 2010 software has new measuring tools and sectioning enhancements to help improve workflow.

Following are the other new AEC products:

  • AutoCAD Architecture 2010 software
  • AutoCAD MEP 2010 software
  • AutoCAD Civil 2010 software
  • Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2010 software, which includes a render-quality viewport

Updates to Autodesk’s 2010 software portfolio for infrastructure modelling include AutoCAD Map 3D 2010, an engineering solution for creating and managing spatial data that brings together geospatial and CAD data in a common AutoCAD environment. AutoCAD Map 3D 2010 includes seven new overlay operations to enhance analytical capabilities, enabling users to compare or combine Feature Data Objects (FDO)–connected data stores for improved decision making. Other improvements to the infrastructure modelling portfolio include AutoCAD Raster Design 2010, which can now be deployed through a Citrix application delivery environment when used with AutoCAD Map 3D 2010, Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise 2010, and Autodesk Topobase 2010, which includes improved web performance and simplified underground asset profile creation tools.
