Australis Engineering has successfully finalised commissioning the materials handling equipment and conveyors for Orica’s HCB repackaging project on their Botany plant. The materials handling project was worth approximately $3 million.
Orica’s Botany site currently stores 50,000 drums of HCB waste which is to be repackaged into new drums and IBC’s suitable for transport off site for further processing.
Australis Engineering manufactured and installed approximately 40 standard 205 litre drum conveyors and pallet conveyors with transfer and reorientation devices and drum pick and place. All equipment was designed in CAD and included FEA analysis on critical parts.
The project also called for the design, development and manufacture of an automated drum decanting system; PLC controlled 200 and 100 litre drum palletiser; pallet stacker and de-stacker; automatic wash systems and a hoist and conveyor unit for feeding pallets and drums into a shredder.
The complete re-packaging and conveyor line was designed and developed by Australis Engineering and installed by its experienced technicians.
