POLYEURO 1050H polyurethane coating was selected for this application due to its fast cure rate, toughness, resilience and elastomeric properties. It was applied to an area of 6,000m² at the Alkimos water treatment plant.
The Alkimos water treatment plant serves the population growth of Perth's north west corridor, with a population expected to reach about 150,000 by 2030. Essential to growth and development in this region is wastewater and water infrastructure.
For application at the site, POLYEURO 1050H was used with a specific priming system to seal the porous concrete structure and enable a pinhole free coating.
Once applied, the POLYEURO 1050H polyurethane coating:
- provided long term protection of the concrete structure against hydrogen sulphide damage
- achieved an excellent bond to its substrate on application; and
- provided a seamless coating to the roof and wall areas.
