Australian Urethane Systems polyurethane coatings solve ongoing leakage problem

After several failed attempts by others, Australian Urethane Systems has finally sealed a leaking concrete water reservoir with their POLYEURO 5520F polyurethane coatings

Wyong Shire council found that the Kanwal Water Resevoir continued to leak, and that attempts at sealing the reservoir had either failed or did not make allowances for new leaks occurring.    

The POLYEURO 5502F polyurethane coatings from AUS were chosen as they provide a seamless membrane that was able to meet the requirements of the project.

The polyurethane coatings effectively stopped water leakage from the concrete water storage reservoir and also provide long term protection of the structure.

The polyurethane coatings were applied to the floors and lower wall areas of the reservoir covering an area of 1800 square metres.

The polyurethane coatings feature a vital component, a specific priming system that uses Polyprime 21.

This sealing system was used to seal the porous concrete structure, which allowed for pinhole free application of the membranes to the prepared substrate.

POLYEURO 5502F is a 100% solid, fast set plural component elastomeric Polyurea coating with a low permeability and a cracking briding ability that makes it ideal for restoring older concrete water storage facilities.

The polyurethane coatings have been extensively used in various mining, industrial, marine, waste water and commercial applications as a protective coating.

The polyurethane coatings also have Potable Water Approval AS/NZS 4020: 2005.
