A FOUR-inch cast zinc-free bronze pump designed for chemical process applications has been released by Australian Pump Industries . Called the Aussie GMP model B4KQA-B, the self-priming pump is made from zinc-free bronze with stainless steel fittings.
With a capacity of 1800 litres a minute the big pump is ideal for applications involving the transport of large volumes of chemical waste or contaminated effluent.
The pump has excellent self-priming characteristics with the capability to draught liquids from depths of up to six metres. Simple in design, the pump consists of a one piece cast chamber with single large vaned open impeller. The body casing features an integrated volute for fast self-priming and efficient operation.
The big impeller enables it to pass small solids in suspension. This makes it suitable for handling industrial effluent, food or petro-chemical waste.
Designed as a close coupled motor pump, the machine is powered by a 5.5 horsepower three-phase 415 volt 2-pole motor with IP55 protection. Standard seals supplied are Buna N with Viton and EDPM compounds available as options.
A flameproof version is also available for installation in hazardous plant locations.
"The pump can be used for a wide range of corrosive liquids," product manager John Whiteley said, "these includes brine, acids, alkalines, and similar liquids."
