With the change in weather patterns bringing much needed rain to the Eastern states of Australia, farmers, local authorities and rescue services are looking for pumps to move large quantities of water effectively.

With needs ranging from the pumping out flooded buildings through to moving water to storage dams for later use, big pumps that can handle large volumes of water are the solution.

Australian Pump Industries  has developed a range of 3” and 4” engine drive water transfer pumps that are designed to move large quantities of water fast with the minimum of fuel consumption.

The big four inch Aussie Quik Prime QP402, self priming pump offers huge flows of up to 1800 litres per minute and high performance head characteristics.

“The pump is designed to transfer water efficiently and makes fast work of dewatering duties,” said Aussie Pump’s John Whiteley.

“It’s unique design provides unparalleled suction capacity,” John Whiteley said. Powered by a Honda 8 HP petrol engine, with Yanmar or Kubota diesel options, the pump offers low fuel consumption and maximum pump performance.

Its suction capability is over 8.4 metres, that means that the pump can be placed well away from the edge of the dam or creek and out of the way of rising water. Recent tests showed that the pump primed from a three metre lift in less than 30 seconds.

The Aussie QP402, in its base configuration, comes with heavy duty cast iron impeller and volute. The impeller has large open vanes to allow small solids to pass straight through the pump without damage, making it suitable for dewatering duties. A heavy duty mechanical seal is standard equipment.

Like all big Aussie 3 inch and 4 inch transfer pumps, the Aussie QP402 comes in a heavy duty roll frame with anti vibration mounts and with a free coupling and strainer kit .

“We have also developed high pressure kits to suit the QP402,” said John Whiteley. “For example, we can change the impeller and volute for a high pressure set that gives heads of up to 70 metres. That’s almost 100 psi,” John Whiteley said.

Australian Pump Industries also include various 6 inch pumps in its range which are suitable for large dewatering and flood mitigation tasks.
