Cleaning earthmoving plant, tippers and other big equipment before transport from site to site, often requires different techniques to conventional plant wash down with high pressure water blasters.
High pressure water blasters are normally configured in the 3,000 psi and 15 litres per minute flow range and are ideal for cleaning plant off for pre-service, but can be painfully slow in moving caked mud from grouser plates or motor scraper elevators.
Australian Pump Industries , also known as Aussie Pumps, is an Australian cleaning equipment manufacturer.
Australian Pump Industries has developed a range of high flow, medium pressure wash down machines designed to clean equipment fast.
“Our concept was to blow the caked mud and dust off equipment using a combination of pressure and high flow,” said Aussie Pumps engineer Matt Dale.
“We called the machine the Aussie Muck Off, because it blows mud and dirt away, saving valuable water, time and energy,” he said.
The machines, available in a range up to 150 litres per minute, with pressures of up to 50 bar (710psi), are available in either petrol or diesel engine drive.
The petrol drive units are powered by tough Honda industrial engines. Australian Pump Industries, after wide product evaluation, chose Yanmar engines as the standard diesel drive, because of their reliability and nationwide after-market support.
The heart of the Muck Off system is an Aussie Udor high pressure diaphragm pump. Diaphragm pumps have good self priming characteristics making them ideal for operation from independent water tanks mounted on utes, trucks or trailers.
The diaphragm pumps are also more forgiving, according to Matt Dale. For application in plant yards, where there is a ready source of water, Aussie Muck Offs can be configured in a four wheel heavy duty trolley with or without hose reels.
“The Aussie Muck Off comes standard with 10 metres of hose, but hose lengths of up to 60 metres are available as standard accessories,” said Matt Dale.
“An ideal high pressure Tommy Gun style wash down gun allows the operator to vary the angle of spray from direct jet to 40° by simple manipulation of the front mounted gun handle,” he said.
