The new Aussie Fire Captain portable fire fighting pump, from Australian Pump Industries (Aussi Pumps), is used by the Marshman family of Glanmonnow, Dungowan, near Tamworth. The fire fighting pump is required to perform a range of on farm duties and is a standby for combating grass or brush fires on the property.
According to Stuart Marshman, the new Aussie Fire Captain pump was chosen by him because of its performance and quality components. Marshman added that the heavy duty roll frame is a reliable platform for the pump to work off.
The Aussie Fire Captain pump, derived from the popular Fire Chief, belong to the range of pumps that won the NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire Brigade contracts. The pump offers flows of up to 500 litres per minute and heads as high as 75 metres.
The quick prime function of the pump from Australian Pump Industries enables it to prime from 7.6 metres, making it easy to draught water from creeks, dams or wells. The pump utilises the power of a Honda 6.5 HP GX200 engine and comes mounted in a heavy duty steel roll frame.
The pump has a large belly body that enables fast priming and provides extra performance. The heart of the system is a 7 inch one piece closed style impeller. Extra metal provides longevity and reduces maintenance costs.
The pump comes with a standard 3 way head, but an optional 2 inch outlet is also available. It can be easily changed over on the pump through a 4 bolt flanged kit. The suction port is a 4 bolt flanged 2 inch fitting that enables easy access to the check valve for servicing.
