Miller Contractors recently put Aussie MQ600TD 6” trash pumps from Australian Pump Industries on the task of fast filling 50,000 litre road tankers. Big pumps replaced smaller pumps with Millers seeking to cut their loading times dramatically. In this case,  Articulated 35000 litre trucks were loaded in under six minutes. These trash pumps offer a flow of 6,000 litres per minute flow and produces a maximum vertical discharge head of 46 metres- 64.9 p.s.i.

These trash pumps feature a large non-clog impeller as the heart of the system.  The impeller is capable of passing solids up to 3” in diameter (76mm)!  An easy clean out port mounted at the front of the machine enables the whole pump chamber to be cleaned of debris within the period of a couple of minutes in case of a pump “choke”.  The  muck shifter pumps are self priming to a vertical lift of 7.6 metres, making these pumps easy to load from dams, creeks or streams. 

The trash pumps are powered by a 60 HP Deutz air cooled 4 cylinder diesel engine with electric start and built in safety shut down equipment.  The shut down device activates in the event of low oil pressure, high oil temperature, and/or vee belt failure. Oil lubricated tungsten titanium carbide sealing is a feature of these pumps, and is designed to handle even abrasive slurry type liquids.  A control panel is shock mounted in a water resistant housing and includes hour meter, ammeter, tachometer, and alternator failure lights.

Millers specified the machine be mounted on a heavy duty trailer with centre mounted lifting bar.  “We like the way the self priming design of the trash pumps allows the machine to prime fast, without air compressors or vacuum pumps” said Jay Miller. “We couldn’t be more delighted with the performance of the pumps, and we’ve never seen tankers fill so fast. In some situations we have eliminated the need for 2 water tankers. "
