THE AP&DVC hopper isolation valves from Australian Penstock have been used in applications with media such as hot fly ash, sewage sludge, cement and dust, without experiencing isolation problems.
Jamming is a problem frequently experienced with isolation valves on hopper outlets. Slide gate valves have traditionally been used to isolate hoppers, but these are poorly designed to function in a horizontal position.
Problems arise when the media builds up in the seat and guide areas. The valve gate is unable to close properly, preventing effective isolation.
The AP&DVC range of hopper isolation valves have been designed to avoid jamming problems during operation. This is achieved by eliminating the areas for potential media build up. The valve does not bottom out when in closed position, and support guides for the gate are not in the media flow.
