ALC welcomes appointment of Anthony Albanese as shadow minister for transport

Supplier News

The Australian Logistics Council (ALC) congratulates Anthony Albanese on his appointment as Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Transport.

According to Michael Kilgariff, ALC Managing Director, Mr Albanese made a substantial contribution to the freight logistics sector during his six years in Government across a range of areas, including infrastructure investment reform and the introduction of seamless transport laws. He also created a genuine partnership with industry in establishing Infrastructure Australia and creating Australia’s first national transport regulators.

He added that Mr Albanese’s detailed knowledge of the significant contribution the freight logistics sector makes to the Australian economy will help to ensure the sector has a strong voice in the Shadow Cabinet.

ALC estimates the industry generates an estimated 14.5% of Australia’s GDP and provides more than 1 million jobs across 165,000 companies. Every 1.5% increase in supply chain efficiency will deliver around $1.5 billion benefit to the national economy.

ALC welcomes Mr Albanese’s appointment and looks forward to his continued advocacy for a more productive, efficient and safe logistics sector.
