Lenka Kvasnickova of Sunshine Coast TAFE, Queensland won the Gold Award at the 2010 PCA Southern Cross Judges Rationale Awards sponsored by the Australian Institute of Packaging .
The Southern Cross Awards is a national packaging design competition organised for tertiary students studying design at universities, TAFEs and private colleges. Briefs developed by the sponsors are given to students who are then required to produce innovative solutions for packaging design.
The Judges Rationale Award is given to the student who best produces excellence in research, documentation and presentation of their rationale. Lenka Kvasnickova’s entry was called ‘Twelve & Six’.
According to Mr Pierre Pienaar FAIP, National President of the AIP, Lenka impressed the judges with her knowledge and experience, which clearly helped her with the required research and presentation of her rationale.
Wishing her well for the future, Mr Pienaar adds that Lenka has numerous qualifications that will properly position her to succeed in this field of graphic design.
Lenka covered all key points required from her brief and undertook extensive research. In addition to presenting the rationale beautifully, her documentation was strongly supported with photographs. Moreover, she successfully carried across the same design elements between her rationale and the packages.
