The 2011 winner of the Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) scholarship program was announced at the association’s annual Awards of Excellence on the 23rd March.

Chairman of the APPMA, Rob Lawrence, presented Mr Jude Van Der Zalm with the annual award, which will enable the Product and Packaging Commercialisation Manager for National Foods Morwell to study an internationally accredited Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) packaging course.

On presenting the award, Mr Lawrence commented that ““Jude has been working at National Foods for four and a half years in a variety of roles, each having a packaging focus. He is a qualified fitter and he uses his mechanical aptitude to good effect as he focuses not just on the packaging materials, not just on the packaging equipment, but on the equipment/material interface,”

In his current role, Jude plays a key part in the introduction of new products and materials, and is also the site’s champion of packaging material quality, Mr Lawrence added.

“Jude will commence his Certificate in Packaging later this year and we look forward to seeing him graduate in a few years.” He concluded.
