Organised by the Australian Exhibitions & Conferences , The Safety Show Sydney will feature free workshops and seminars focussing on the new workplace safety requirements and their impact.
To be held from 25 October to 27 October, The Safety Show Sydney is co-located with Sydney Materials Handling and Bulkex at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.
The seminar and workshop program of the safety exhibition has been drawn up over the three days to give visitors an opportunity to attend as many presentations as possible. While the seminars are free to attend, visitors will need to book in advance.
Highlights of The Safety Show Sydney:
Safe Work Australia, which is developing model Work Health Safety Regulations, model Codes of Practice and a national compliance and enforcement policy to support the WHS Act, will hold seminars on the status of work health and safety harmonisation across the states.
WorkCover NSW will conduct workshops on occupational health and safety, workers compensation and injury management.
The workshops will address these subjects in the context of high-risk industries such as construction and manufacturing as well as small to medium-sized businesses. A presentation on the changes in OHS legislation will also be made at the workshop.
International legal practice, Norton Rose Australia will present on the duties and impact of WHS reforms, and conduct an interactive role-play and mock trial on incident management.
The Australian Warehousing Association will conduct seminars on topics such as licensing, rent or buy, supply chain management and risk.
A national forklift competition on the show floor for ‘best male’ and ‘best female’ drivers will also be conducted at the event.
