Australian Dust Control was recently appointed by SKM Recycling in Coolaroo, Victoria to design, supply and install a reverse flow dust extraction system, complete with ductwork and a Variable Speed Drive (VSD) to suit the extraction fan.
SKM Recycling provides a diverse range of recyclable sorting and collection services to councils and industry, recently investing significantly to create what is described as Australia's largest and most modern Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).
Australian Dust Control installed an ASF6 DXLK dust extraction system for SKM Recycling, which features the latest European technology, and is designed as a completely modular system. This allows for the addition of further modules at a later date as they are required.
A VSD was incorporated into the design of the system to automatically control suction levels and power consumption. Referred to as the "green" option, the VSD automatically adjusts the speed of the extraction fan according to the machines in operation.
This corresponds to significant power savings for SKM Recycling as, for example, if the fan is operating at 80% capacity, power bills can be reduced by approximately 50%.
The dust extraction system supplied by Australian Dust Control has a total airflow capacity of 42,000m3/hr with a 75kW extraction fan. The waste discharges into 2 x 3m3 waste bins.
