When owner Bill Larkin was planning his seaside home, Larkin wanted to balance modern lines with a country homestead feel.
Larkin opted for recycled timber because it is ecologically sustainable, but also because of its beauty and stability. For example, the floor boards are 180 mm wide blackbutt with a striking wave pattern, with a matching recycled blackbutt kitchen bench top.
Larkin used vertical shiplap shadow line recycled weatherboards that blend the house into the surroundings, and at the same time practical.
The mill where Larkin bought the timber provided advice and service, and had a large variety of timber allowing Larkin to choose the timber suitable for the design.
The timber was supplied by Australian Architectural Hardwoods of Kempsey NSW.
