The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) plays a vital role in the representation of individuals who are employed in a broad range of roles within the global minerals industry.

The association aims to provide minerals industry employees with the facilities and information necessary to both fulfil their role adequately and continuously develop their work-related skills.

In order to maintain their membership, the minerals industry association requires that individuals regularly engage in professional development activities including training sessions, seminars, conferences and so forth.

AusIMM is of the belief that professional development activities help to ensure members are leading minerals industry professionals, as they ensure technical and professional skills are adequate and constantly expanding.

The minerals industry association publishes AusIMM News & Week in Review and The AusIMM Bulletin. These publications are comprised of useful information that is of particular relevance to the minerals industry.

The association plays an important role in policy development, and submits its policies to the government on a regular basis for the benefit of its members and the minerals industry.

Members reap a range of benefits from the minerals industry association, including:

  • Discounted entry to conferences of relevance to the minerals industry
  • Discounted or free access to the association’s various publications
  • Opportunities to network with other minerals industry employees
  • Opportunities for cross-discipline networking, thanks to AusIMM’s involvement in all facets of the minerals industry
The association offers fellow, member, associate, graduate, student and company membership types, which ensures the needs of each and every minerals industry employee are adequately catered to.
