Queensland Recycling is a part of the Alex Fraser Group of Companies. Queensland Recycling’s operation consists of 6 major recycling centres situated in Queensland and Victoria.
Australasia Scales was called by Queensland Recycling at 8.00 am Saturday morning, as its weighbridge was not responding correctly.
Australasia Scales’ service Manager was onsite at 9.30am to assess the weighbridge. After inspection he found the mounting hardware and surrounding supports to be faulty.
Due to the faulty mounts once the loadcells were removed they were unable to be re-installed.
The original loadcells that were fitted to the bridge were not available for approximately one week and their cost made them uneconomical to replace.
Australasia Scales, in turn supplied 6 x CAS WBK loadcells which it had in stock at the time.
At this stage the customer informed Australasia Scales that the weighbridge was only closed from 4.00pm to 4.00am Monday to Friday for the repairs to take place.
Australasia Scales returned onsite Monday 4.00pm with 6 x new loadcells and mounting hardware, which were fabricated by Australasia Scales in its fully equipped workshop over the weekend. Australasia Scales’ technicians worked through to 3.00am re-installing new loadcells and cabling.
Australasia Scales returned to site the following afternoon to complete commissioning of weighbridge for trade measurement requirements. The job was signed off at 11.00 pm Tuesday.
The downtime was 4 days and since the available time for the repair was limited, the customer was pleased with the outcome.
