Austin Engineering have won a three year repair and maintenance contract in Chile.

Operating through its Chilean subsidiary, Austin Ingenieros Chile (Austin Engineering Chile), it will provide on site services and off site repairs on dump truck trays, buckets and mobile equipment at Codelco's Ministro Hales mine.

Codelco is a Chilean state owned company, and Ministro Hales is its newest multi-billion dollar copper silver operation.

Starting this month, the contract has a one year extension option, with its scope expected to grow as operations at the mine progress.

Austin managing director Michael Buckland stated "the success in securing this new contract confirms the strategic importance of expanding into this key mining region following the acquisition of the V&V business in January 2013".

"Since then the objective has been to expand the existing mine site focused equipment hire and rental operation into a complete service offering, including on-site maintenance and off-site mining equipment repairs. This contract will increase the revenue and profit contribution of our Calama-based business, which is also the Austin group's highest margin business."

Buckland went on to say that it is in discussions with other mining companies in the area for the provisions of contracts of a similar nature.
