After acquiring Ingersoll Rand Drilling Solutions in July 2004 (now known as Atlas Copco Drilling Solutions), Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Australia will bring the ACDS business in-house throughout Australia and NZ.
The company says as a drilling manufacturer and supplier this is a natural fit with the existing drilling line offered to Atlas Copco’s drilling customers.
Komatsu, the current distributor in Australia and NZ, will continue to provide sales, service and support responsibilities for the ACDS drilling products until the hand over in November.
Komatsu has been the distributor for drilling products for Ingersoll Rand for the past 10 years.
Both Komatsu and Atlas Copco are committed to a smooth transition and will work closely together to ensure customers continue to receive quality service and support.
Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Australia general manager Sergio Camozzi says distributors play a vital role in reaching the end customer with product sales, spare parts and service work.
“Komatsu’s distributor network is very strong and has meant IR drills have had good representation,” Camozzi says.
Komatsu Australia general manager mining Gregg Scanlan says Komatsu is proud of the business it has built with IR drills in Australia and NZ.
“We will work closely with Atlas Copco to ensure quality service and support that we have provided over the past 10 years are maintained throughout the transition period,” Scanlan says.
“Komatsu Australia will now concentrate on its core business activity: to supply and nationally support Komatsu excavators, wheel loaders, dump trucks, dozers and graders.
“This new development is in line with our current national business strategy and will ensure Komatsu’s supply, distribution and aftermarket support into the Australian, New Zealand and New Caledonian markets are stronger as industry leaders,” Scanlan says.
