ATLAS Copco has released the new Series 7 diesel powered, single axle, oil-injected rotary screw compressors -- touted as 'The Magnificent Seven' by the company.
The Series 7 is a range of seven compressors with capacities ranging from 67 to 190cfm and working pressures ranging from 7 to 12 bar.
All models have been designed to offer high performance, reliability, durability and serviceability while minimising environmental impact.
Business manager for the new compressor range, Andre Van Der Heyde, said the new Series 7 compressor range reflected Atlas Copco's joint focus on the environment and increasing customers' productivity.
Stars of the new range include a 12 bar high pressure model with a free air delivery of 67cfm. Designated the XAHS 37, the 12 bar unit is suitable for applications with the latest generation of fibre optic cable installations.
A second model, the XATS 67, provides free air delivery of 120cfm at 10.3bar and has been designed for applications such as small sand blasting operations and renovation projects.
Three models are also available with an integral 50Hz, single or 3-phase generator - with ratings of 6.5kVA and 12kVA - to provide electrical power for welding plant, lighting and power tools, etc.
All three can be equipped with an automatic regulating system and have been designed for use by plant rental fleets, the construction industry and utility companies.
Strict environmental and safety standards are employed in the design and manufacture of the compressors.
Atlas Copco claims to have set even higher environmental standards with the new compressors, which offer compliance with the latest European and US noise and exhaust legislation.
Environmental features include a sealed spillage frame as an optional extra (standard equipment in Australia), which ensures that all fluids can be captured within the frame, eliminating spillage problems.
Fluids collect in the frame where it can be easily 'piped' away or drained into a suitable container. Engine and compressor oil drains are linked to a central point at the side of the unit.
They are powered by the Deutz 2011 two or three cylinder diesel engines coupled to a single stage compressor unit. The engines comply with the latest exhaust emissions COM II in Europe and Tier II for the US applications.
The compressors are designed to not only meet the noise levels specified in 2000/14EC phase II, which will be valid in 2006, but in many cases will exceed the 2006 legislation.
All Series 7 models conform to ISO9001 QA, ISO 14001 environmental regulations as well as workplace safety requirements.
The compressors feature a completely new canopy design. Fitted as a hinged unit, the canopy can be easily opened or closed smoothly with the aid of sturdy gas springs.
Removable side, front and rear panels provide easy access for maintenance and service.
