ELMA, represented by Associated Controls (Australia) Pty Ltd , has developed a new backplane for their new ETSI compliant AdvancedTCA systems.
Backplanes for ATCA have to meet stringent requirements for data transfer rate and signal integrity. ELMA's substantial design and manufacturing experience in the field of high-tech solutions has been seamlessly channelled into the new product.
At the heart of the 13U system is a newly-developed 16-slot full mesh monolithic backplane.
Both the power entry modules (PEM) and the two shelf management controllers provided are pluggable. This feature, combined with optimal design of the backplane routing, enables the low board thickness of only 3.2mm to be achieved, therefore minimising the stub effect and ensuring optimal signal integrity.
With the new 16-slot variant, ELMA has expanded its backplane program for ATCA, which now includes 2, 4, 5, 14 and 16-slot backplanes and covers dual-star, dual-dual-star, full mesh and replicated mesh (for backplanes with less than 8 slots) topologies. They comply with the PICMG 3.0 specifications. Additional customised solutions are also available.
