MEC Switches, distributed in Australia by Associated Controls (Australia) is a leading manufacturer of high quality switches and state-of-the-art electromechanical components.

MEC is focussed on maintaining their market leadership in the high end PCB mount push button switches segment through innovation and commitment to sustainable quality.

MEC Switches has launched a new function option - normally closed/normally open - for the Multimec 5 series switches.

The normally closed/normally open (NC/NO) function means that the switch has an active circuit when not activated; when one pushes the switch, the initial contact breaks and a new contact is made. The function is also known as SPDT or single pole double throw.

Having an active circuit when not activated adds the benefit of safety and security. The switch gives feedback to the system that it is still operational and able to function when necessary. These switches are also multi-functional with the functions including NC (make), NO (brake), and NC/NO (switch over; multi-function).

Feature highlights of the NC/NO Multimec 5 series switches include life cycles >1.000.000; 3 standard actuation forces: 2.0N, 3.5N and 6.5N; IP67 sealing; robustness 100N; low contact resistance<30mΩ; and recommended load 0,5-50mA, 24VDC.

The high performance tactile switches come with a wide range of cap and accessory options, including choice of shape, size, height, colour and illumination.
