NATIONAL Semiconductor, represented by Arrow Electronics , has announced the opening of a joint analogue and mixed-signal integrated circuit (IC) laboratory in association with Zhejiang University.
This is National Semiconductor's first analogue and mixed-signal IC laboratory allied with a university in China.
In the initial setup, the laboratory will have more than 20 professors and students working on analogue and mixed signal IC designs.
The first designs will focus on power management. Power management ICs are extremely important as systems require higher power efficiency, more features and smaller form factors.
National Semiconductor's first office in China was set up in Beijing in 1994. Since then, its presence has expanded to Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
Last November, National Semiconductor started building a test and assembly facility in Suzhou that will start operation in early 2004.
