National Semiconductor (distributed by Arrow and Insight Electronics ) has acquired DigitalQuake to accelerate its flat panel display product line.
Under the deal, the terms of which were not disclosed, DigitalQuake’s scaler technology will be integrated with National’s integrated timing controller technology.
The result of this integration – which started back in February – has already been demonstrated to customers in the form of an advanced mixed-signal, system-on-chip solution, according to National Semiconductor Displays Group VP David Handorf.
“DigitalQuake adds several key technologies to National’s existing digital display capabilities, including a fourth-generation scaling solution and an advanced digital video interface with the latest encryption/decryption technologies,” Handorf said.
Start-up DigitalQuake developed an innovative scaler chip for digital displays within its first two years in operation.
Scaling is one of the features needed to change the resolution and size of the display, Handorf added.
