MAXIM Integrated Products, represented by Arrow , has introduced the MAX1963/MAX1976, 100mV low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators that operate from a 1.62V input and deliver a guaranteed 300mA continuous-load current.

These linear regulators are typically used to power processor curves at 1.5V. The devices have only 17% (typ) efficiency loss when powered from the 1.8V I/O supply versus 61% using other linear regulators powered from the 3.8V lithium-ion battery.

The MAX1963/MAX1976 provide very high output-voltage accuracy (±1.5%) over all load, line, and temperature conditions.

These ICs are available in fixed-output voltages ranging from 0.75V to 3.0V. Their active-low, open-drain reset output remains asserted for at least 2.2ms (MAX1963) or 70ms (MAX1976) after the output voltage reaches regulation.

The MAX1963/MAX1976 have an internal PMOS pass transistor so the low 70μA supply current remains independent of load and dropout voltage. Other features include a logic-controlled shutdown, short-circuit protection, and thermal-overload protection.

The MAX1963/MAX1976 are available in six-pin SOT23 and six-pin, 3mm x 3mm TDFN packages. These devices are screened for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C).
