DALLAS Semiconductor, represented in Australia by Arrow Electronics , has released the DS2482-X00 I(2)C(TM)-to 1-Wire(R) interface. The It is available with one (DS2482-100) or eight (DS2482-800) channels of independently operated 1-Wire I/O ports.

It provides individual connections for up to eight 1-Wire slaves, which can also be used to identify slave physical location. User-programmable features provide control of 1-Wire waveforms to optimise drive characteristics to the 1-Wire slave configuration. High-level commands and self-timed waveform generation offload 1-Wire protocol control from the host processor. The parts are suitable for applications where host operation of 1-Wire slave device(s) from an I(2)C interface is desired.

The devices operate from 2.9V to 5.5V over the extended temperature range from -40°C to 85°C, and are available in eight and 16-pin SO packages.
