MAXIM Integrated Products, represented by Arrow Electronics , has introduced the MAX5078 high-speed MOSFET driver in a 3mm x 3mm TDFN package for use in power MOSFET switching, motor control, and in the design of ultra-compact, high-frequency, switching power supplies.
The MOSFET driver can source and sink up to 4A peak current with low 20ns propagation delay. The propagation-delay matching is typically less than ±10ns from part to part.
The device's low propagation delay over the supply voltage range and tight delay tolerance between devices allow excellent control when driving MOSFETs in push-pull converters, and for driving secondary-side synchronous rectifiers in isolated power supplies.
The MAX5078 is rated for operation from a 4V to 15V supply voltage and can withstand up to 18V transients. Moreover, the MAX5078's inverting and noninverting logic inputs are designed to operate at up to +18V, regardless of the VDD supply voltage.
The device includes a logic circuit to prevent internal shoot-through current during output state change. A choice of either VDD/2 CMOS (MAX5078A) or TTL (MAX5078B) logic input is available.
The MAX5078 is available in the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range in a 3mm x 3mm 6-pin TDFN package with exposed pad.
The package is capable of dissipating up to 2W at 70°C ambient temperature.
