MAXIM Integrated Products, represented by Arrow Electronics , has introduced the MAX2745, a single-chip, RF front-end for global-positioning-systems (GPS).

This high-performance, state-of-the-art IC eliminates the need for costly SAW and bulky discrete IF filters which results in a lower bill of material (BOM) cost and reduced board area.

The MAX2745 supports both 3rd overtone crystal designs in 32MHz and fundamental-frequency crystal designs in 16MHz, as well as TCXO implementation.

In addition, it incorporates an on-chip temperature sensor and crystal oscillator with trimmed capacitors, providing a very accurate frequency and additional system cost savings.

The MAX2745 is ideal for general navigation and tracking systems, such as in-vehicle navigation, fleet management, asset tracking and management, LBS (Location-Based Services), emergency/roadside assistance, GIS (Geographical Information Systems), recreational handheld and marine navigation systems, as well as many mobile and battery-operated consumer electronics.

It is available in a 48-pin TQFP package and is specified for the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). An evaluation kit and samples are now available.
