MAXIM Integrated Products, represented by Arrow Electronics , has introduced the MAX9703, a 15W, mono, filterless, Class-D audio amplifier.
The MAX9703 offers the audio quality typically associated with linear (Class-AB) amps and the benefits of high-efficiency Class-D operation, thus eliminating the need for bulky, expensive heat sinking.
This device employs Maxim's patented spread-spectrum modulation scheme which reduces EMI emissions by up to 6dB. The MAX9703 is ideal for thin-profile applications such as flat-panel TVs and flat-screen PC monitors.
The MAX9703 offers 0.07% THD + N, high PSRR of 80dB at 1kHz, and exceptional click-and-pop performance levels. The device operates from a 10V to 25V single supply and can produce up to 15W of average power and 20W of peak power into an 8 ohm load.
Differential inputs and four selectable-gain options allow the user to optimise the signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio under different load and input-level conditions. Four flexible clocking options control the noise spectrum for a given application.
The MAX9703 is available in a 32-pin QFN (5mm x 5mm x 0.8mm) and operates over the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C).
