MAXIM Integrated Products, represented in Australia by Arrow Electronics , has released the MAX5494-MAX5499 SPI-compatible, dual 1024-tap, nonvolatile digital potentiometers in a 5mm x 5mm TQFN package.

Integrated EEPROM simulates mechanical potentiometers by storing the wiper position prior to power down. This significantly reduces chip size compared to mechanical pots.

The MAX549x digital pots also offer ratiometric and end-to-end temperature coefficients as low as 5ppm/°C and 35ppm/°C, respectively. The devices save power by requiring less than 1.5μA in standby and operating from a 2.7V to 5.25V single supply.

End-to-end resistances of 10kΩ and 50kΩ are available. The MAX549x is offered in dual resistor-divider, dual variable resistor or resistor-divider/variable resistor configurations. An industry-standard, three-wire SPI serial interface makes the digital pots simple to operate.
