NATIONAL Semiconductor, represented in Australia by Arrow Electronics , has released the LM5010, a 75V buck regulator with all the functions needed to implement an efficient power management system capable of supplying in excess of 1A load current.
The LM5010 complements National's LM5007 a 75V, 0.5A buck regulator, and contains high-frequency control circuitry that enable designers to use the regulator with smaller filters and fewer external components.
It has an input voltage range of 8V to 75V and a valley-current limit at 1.25A typical. It has an integrated 80V N-Channel buck switch, an integrated startup regulator, an integrated current sense resistor and a constant on-time control with voltage feed-forward.
No loop compensation is required and the system has a typical transient response time of 5μs. It has an adjustable switching frequency up to 1MHz and an operating frequency that remains virtually constant with load and line variations.
It has a 2.5V feedback reference, adjustable output voltage from 2.5V to Vin-2V and adjustable soft-start limits, current surges and voltage over-shoot during start-up. It has thermal shutdown protection and is available in a 4mm x 4mm LLP or TSSOP package.
