DALLAS Semiconductor, represented by Arrow Electronics, has introduced the DS2431, 1kb 1-Wire EEPROM.
The 1-Wire interface multiplexes all the communication signals required to read or write to the DS2431, together with the means to power the chip, onto a single I/O pin.
This enables the designer to easily embed the device in applications such as medical and IEEE 1451.44-compliant sensors, accessories, and peripherals where electrical contacts are limited or minimising wiring complexity is necessary.
Programmable features include write protection and an OTP EPROM mode which is useful to gauge the consumption of a non-replenishable consumable or to keep a running count of use events with a limited-use product.
The DS2431 operates from 2.8V to 5.25V over the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C), and is available in tiny 6-pin TSOC and UCSP packages.
