Applied Sorting Technologies recently designed and installed two x-ray inspection systems at the Nestle Peters Ice Cream factory in Mulgrave, incorporating a range of custom specifications to ensure food processing compliance.

Used to inspect packed ice cream products, the machines were designed so that they could be readily integrated into the pre-existing infrastructure at the site.

Applied Sorting customised the conveyor length and height of the x-ray inspection systems to suit Nestle’s preferred layout, and added a pair of pneumatically operated pushers that allows cartons that are suspected of containing foreign matter to be pushed into a separate collection bin for processing.

With stringent occupational health and safety compliance requirements at the plant, Applied Sorting also optimised the components used in the new systems, standardising certain brands of machine components wherever possible.
