Applied Measurement Australia announces that Jewell Instruments is now self-certified to meet or exceed AREMA and CENELEC standards for their most popular sensors used in the rail transportation industry.
Jewell is a world leader in the manufacture and distribution of sensors and controls, meters and avionics, industrial test equipment, geophysical, and geotechnical products. The company has self-certified for both North American and European standards on their high performance inclinometer and accelerometer sensors used within the rail transportation industry.
The certification was completed by an independent third party testing facility with the certification tests performed to the standardisation principles and policies for the rail transportation industry for both AREMA and CENELEC. The certified sensors include Jewell’s LCA-165 accelerometer, LCF-501 accelerometer, as well as the DXI-100/200 single or dual axis inclinometer and DXA-100/200 single or dual axis accelerometer.
These sensors are currently used for Rail Maintenance of Way (RMOW), Rail Automated Train Controls (RATC), and Rail Test and Measurement (RT&M) markets within the rail transportation industry. Jewell’s sensors are crucial to the components in safety and control systems and offer a safe, controlled ride by providing train acceleration, deceleration, and position feedback information. The high precision and rugged sensors are suitable for rail applications exposed to high shock and vibration.
According to Brian Ward, Director of Business and Development for the Sensors and Controls product line, the new certification shows the company’s dedication to safety and quality in sensor manufacturing. He adds that the certification will also allow Jewell Instruments to gain greater market share and presence within the rail transportation industry.
