The new Arcfix range of stud welded M16 and M20 wear studs offered by Antec Engineering was displayed for the first time recently at the Antec & VCA Open Day held at Marsden Park.
Arcfix wear studs reduce wear on surfaces in ground engaging equipment exposed to abrasion by forming a barrier between the machinery and the material being moved.
The wear studs are made from a high chromium and high carbon abrasion-resistant material that has proved to be a successful answer to wear problems in open pit mines, quarries, steelworks and ore preparation applications.
The wear studs were applied to a bucket at the Open Day by Agostinho Rodrigues from the Unanderra-based company, Santana E Compania.
Santana specialises in diverse stud welding applications and Rodrigues was particularly impressed with the quick and easy application of the wear studs to the bucket.
He said, “These wear studs offer a quick and cost-effective protection for this bucket. The wear studs fit snugly into the chuck and I did not have one failure. The stud welding process saves on time, power and labour compared to other hardfacing methods I have seen.”
The Arcfix range of stud welding products was also on display at the QME in Mackay from 27th – 29th July and again at GME Kalgoorlie in October. There will be continuous demonstrations of the stud welding process on the Antec stand.
Other products featured at the Antec stand include the KBS fire protection system and a new range of dust extractor systems developed by Antec Engineering.
