Anritsu have introduced the new MU120138A 10 Gigabit Ethernet test module for their MD1230B Data Quality Analyser.
The rapid spread of large capacity, content rich data services such as high speed mobile services is driving the evolution of access networks towards 10GbE speeds used previously by internet backbone connections.
In addition, FTTH networks are seeing increasing research and development into 10GE-PON technologies, offering subscribers support for high speed, large capacity services. Much of the transmission equipment used by these systems incorporates multiports and thus requires multiport measuring instruments for both R&D and manufacturing.
The MU120138A has data input/output ports supporting 10GbE QoS testing and performance verification of 10GbE transmission equipment. In addition to increasing the conventional number of 10GbE measurement ports from 2 to 4, the smaller size now allows installation of five modules in the same space as required by two conventional modules, allowing one MD1230B mainframe to support testing of 10GbE transmission system with up to 20 ports. Connecting up to eight MD1230B units in a cascade supports evaluation of large scale 10 GbE transport systems with as many as 160 ports.
Since the conventional cost per port is almost halved, a low cost measurement environment tailored to any application is easily configured, while the low power design cuts power consumption by two thirds.
