ANRITSU has introduces Fixed WiMAX (802.16-2004) test options for its MT8222A BTS Master that make the analyser the first handheld field solution for measuring WiMAX.
The Fixed WiMAX test options, for RF measurements and demodulation, expand the analysis capability of the BTS Master, which already features cable and antenna analysis, spectrum analysis, power meter, interference analysis, Bit Error Rate Tester (BERT), channel scanner, and power monitor.
The Fixed WiMAX options make the BTS Master a single-instrument solution for engineers, technicians, and contractors responsible for the deployment of WiMAX networks.
With the Fixed WiMAX RF measurements option, the BTS Master can measure the transmitted signal strength and signal shape of the selected BTS transmission. The option includes familiar channel spectrum, power versus time, ACPR, and RF summary screens.
The Fixed WiMAX demodulator option analyses OFDM signals and displays detailed measurements for evaluating transmitter modulation performance.
All the inherent advantages of the BTS Master design, including a large display, lightweight (3kg) and durability, are brought to Fixed WiMAX measurements because of the new options.
The BTS Master's popular Pass/Fail Mode can be used with the options as well. With this feature, technicians can select a test procedure and the BTS Master displays the test results in table format with clear PASS or FAIL indications that include min/max thresholds and actual measured results.
Anritsu's Master software tools can also be used with the Fixed WiMAX options. The comprehensive data management and analysis software allows custom tests to be created and downloaded into the BTS Master to ensure performance of a WiMAX network.
The BTS Master combines the functionality of a cable and antenna analyser, spectrum analyser, power meter, interference analyser, channel scanner, transmitter analyser, bias tee, and T1 analyser.
In addition to Fixed WiMAX analysis, it can conduct WCDMA/HSDPA and GSM/GPRS/EDGE RF and demodulation, and WCDMA/HSDPA Over the Air (OTA) measurements.
