AMERICAN Power Conversion (APC) has announced an expansion to its Smart-UPS range, with the launch of the Smart-UPS On-line uninterruptible power supply (UPS) offering double conversion online topology.
APC has traditionally offered line interactive UPS, and adding the online topology to its product range answers customer demand in IT, telecommunications, industrial, medical and manufacturing environments.
Double conversion online UPS constantly supply battery power to connected equipment, in contrast to line interactive topology that provides battery power when there is a disruption to the electrical power supply.
The new double-conversion Smart-UPS On-line models can be used to protect high availability applications such as in telecommunications and networking environments.
They are particularly suited for the protection of medical equipment, industrial processes or sensitive electronic equipment used in manufacturing.
"Our customers are able to choose their UPS topology, depending on their specific business requirements," says Leanne Cunnold, managing director for APC Australia and New Zealand.
"Our mission is to add value to our customers' infrastructure by offering products that meet their varying requirements. We are now able to deliver a solution using one interface, utilising the same accessories and software regardless of the requested topology."
The new 222/230/240V Smart-UPS On-Line models will ship in black, with an additional option of rack-mountable or tower units. Depending on the power load requirements, both one and two kVA models are available.
The UPS can be managed using the PowerChute Business Edition software. Smart-UPS On-Line also integrates with APC's manageability accessories including the Network Management and Environmental Monitoring Cards.
