American Power Conversion (APC) has set up an insurance policy in which it guarantees to reimburse APC product users up to $200,000 for damage caused by electrical surges or spikes to protected equipment.
The company has said that it will guarantee to repair or replace its product or any equipment damaged by a surge or spike, including surges due to lightning strikes, while properly connected to an APC unit covered by the equipment protection policy (EPP).
Products covered by the EPP include APC's SurgeArrest range of surge suppressors for electronic equipment, as well as APC's Back-UPS uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) for desktops and peripherals, according to APC Australia & New Zealand managing director Leanne Cunnold.
"We're very confident in the design and quality of our products and want to ensure that we've done everything possible to offer our customers the maximum level of protection available," Cunnold said.
"Consumers can put complete trust in APC knowing that their expensive equipment is protected against power problems and covered by the most extensive insurance policy of its kind in the power protection market."
APC will provide reimbursement during the lifetime of products purchased after 1 November 2002, Cunnold added.
EPP coverage comes free with listed products.
