Amcor Flexibles has introduced an embossing machine said to ensure a consistent and higher quality foil-paper laminated sheet.
The embosser is said to ensure better folding when the product is being wrapped, reducing creasing and other deformities to create a great looking pack on the retail shelf.
The machine runs at speeds of up to 400 mpm and both embosses and slits the sheets in one process.
When not being used for embossing it can be utilised as a general slitter.
“The crush rollers emboss the laminate to give a high quality feel to the butter wraps that are used primarily on export packs,” explained Amcor Flexibles’ Bill Barling.
The machine is designed to maximise the embossing pressure on the sheet at high speeds, preventing spring back that could stretch and damage the laminate.
“Much of the butter is frozen for shipping and storage and when thawed we need to ensure the pack maintains its presentation and does not delaminate.
“The embosser combined with Amcor Flexibles’ plastic extrusion laminating know-how is used for premium quality foil wrap for salted and especially unsalted butter that would otherwise go rancid,” Barling said.
