Presented last week at an Awards Dinner in Naples, Florida, Amcor Flexibles won the prestigious awards with its Amcor SelfVent steam-venting stand up pouch, Amcor FlexCan recloseable stand up pack and Amcor EasyPack easy-open and recloseable pouch.
Awarded two gold awards for Technical Innovation and Packaging Excellence, Amcor SelfVent is designed for the microwave cooking of fresh produce and brings benefits to consumers, retailers and packers alike.
For the consumer, the ‘self venting’ nature of the pack in the microwave removes the need to ‘pierce before use’. This has the benefit of eliminating the potential inconsistencies and safety issues of consumers piercing the pack themselves, and ensures that the product is cooked to perfection. The pack is also easy to tear open after cooking, and stores upright in the refrigerator.
For the retailer, the pack offers excellent on-shelf presence with its stand-up format, antifog performance and graphics potential. Extended shelf life from Amcor P-Plus modified atmosphere packaging technology and optimal seal integrity minimises product spoilage in store.
For the packer, Amcor P-Plus technology preserves product quality, minimises dehydration and extends the permissible supply chain time.
Amcor Flexibles’ patented Amcor FlexCan solution with consumer-friendly easy opening and recloseability features was awarded a Silver award for Packaging Excellence. The stand up properties inherent in the concept ensure striking on-shelf differentiation and effective logistics and enables flexible packaging to be used as an alternative in areas previously reserved for tin cans and glass jars.
Also winning a Silver award, this time for Technical Innovation, Amcor EasyPack combines Amcor Flexibles’ knowledge of peelable sealants with the company’s experience in lap-seal technology. This unique pack configuration combined with special peelable materials can be applied to a number of pack formats and products.
